This manufacturing firm, are easily identified by their distinctive Boyle & Gamble cupped and turned-down guard, and distinctive iron drag on accompanying scabbards.Confederate manufactured Cavalry Sabre, closely patterned after the U.S. Model 1860 Light Cavalry sabre. In the reference “Confederate Swords” by William A. Albaugh III, he mentions “The Confederacy produced innumerable sabres of this type resembling each other so closely that only a few can be identified.” The manufacturing characteristics identify this example to the firm “Boyle & Gamble” of Richmond, Virginia.
