Excellent example of a difficult Confederate plate to excavate. This fine condition “Breckinridge” pattern CS Oval was excavated at a 1864 camp at Tunnel Hill, Georgia. The Dimensions are 59 X 86 mm. Construction : Die-Struck rolled brass, utilizing the scrap brass for “belt hooks” which were soldiered on. Typically, this pattern Confederate plate is excavated in “Trans-Mississippi Theater” area, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee and Louisiana states. Provenance: Private Southern Collection
