Louisiana plate on its original leather belt, manufactured ca 1861-1865. Few specimens have survived in “such perfect states” of originality. Buckle constructed of die-struck rolled brass face. Lead filled back, with brass belt hooks attached by solder. Almost identical to specimen, plate number 284 in reference “Confederate Belt Buckles & Plates.” Plate measurements 55 X 78mm. A stunning example in excellent condition.
